The Intervene Challenge

The Intervene Challenge is a one-day suicide-intervention training event utilizing the Listen Learn Lead Model of Suicide Intervention developed by Army Chaplain Ken Koon. Ken has conducted more than 2,000 successful suicide interventions in both the military and civilian communities. Today he teaches those skills to groups and individuals from all walks of life.

Our training offers CEUs for mental health professionals and POST credit for law enforcement.

  • “I have participated in the Intervene Challenge training multiple times; it's that good. In the first hour your awareness goes through the roof. You begin to think about people you know, family and friends, you should probably have a caring conversation with. Rapport is built and deepened with each step. The Core Values are engrained in your mental toolbox through deeply moving roleplays and simulation exercises. The Challenge greatly reduces fears for the caregiver by addressing the myths many people believe. Ken’s openness about his own experience with PTS is extremely helpful, and hopeful. This is more than suicide intervention training; It’s LIFE training.

  • “As the Crisis Intervention Team Leader, I have attended countless intervention trainings. Unlike the others, the Intervene Challenge uniquely teaches the one sign that is always present, and most often missed, when there are no other signs. It is a training all people should take. I call Ken for all our required intervention training. And when my church asked for a training recommendation, I gave them three words: The Intervene Challenge.”

  • “Take the Intervene Challenge and gain the skills to help others get through the challenges of life."

    Sgt Kevin Briggs
Author, Guardian of the Golden Gate

  • “The Intervene Challenge is powerful training. Our team is now better-equipped to help those who come to us for hope and healing."

    Jennifer O'Neill
Actress and Founder | Hope & Healing at Hillenglade

  • “As a licensed marriage and family therapist I appreciated the straightforward, realistic, ‘no psychobabble” approach’ in this workshop, and the focus on how as a community we can do something NOW to reduce suicides.”

    Jill Hastings Storer, PhD

  • “For more than 10 years, often multiple times annually, we host The Intervene Challenge, because it’s that good. Make the call."
